“G” Wizz Expressions

One of my friends has a business where she makes all kinds of goodies for kids of all ages – “G” Wizz Expressions (visit her Facebook page here) – here is just a sampling of her extraordinarily affordable goodies!

I love her goodies, and we have had a great time getting to know each other at the shop that I have been running.

Brainstorming with this gal is always fun!

So, when she asked me to help her with some signage for her tent that she uses for craft fairs I was excited to work with her on a project!

The only hard part was picking a FONT that was exactly what she wanted – there are just so many to chose from, you know!

She decided she definitely wanted HOT PINK, and I didn’t have any hot pink for outdoor projects on hand, so we ordered it and got it in the next day. Now to play!

I was able to print 3 of her logo on one sheet.  They measured 3”x32” per name.

And here is what she did with it!

Need one?  I would love to help you out!  Just send me a message at relativetype@gmail.com and we can work out a quote for you.  Just to give you an idea.  This project was $30 for all three of the 3”x32” signs.

What can we create for you today?

Teacher Thanks

2011-12 has been the most amazing year for my girls.  They have both excelled leaps and bounds!  I just can’t tell you how proud I am of them. And especially happy that they had 2 of the most amazing teachers ever!  Truly!

I can’t take any create at all for the achievements either girl has made, they take full credit – along with their amazing teachers.  Mr. Reed, my youngest’s kindergarten teacher and Ms Johnson, my oldest’s 4th grade teacher.

So, how do you thank someone that has just done so much for you and your child?  I don’t know that you ever truly can.  And even more so, on a very small budget!  So, I need to use my crafty skills to make a one-of-a-kind gift for both teachers and hope they see the love and appreciation in it

I look all over Pinterest & blog world, but wasn’t at all inspired, and was running out of time.  The wonderful Mr Reed is moving on to be a Reading Specialist Teacher at our school, so excited for him – he will be amazing.  So, something to decorate his new classroom.

We started with a blue sign, with green vinyl cut out with my handy dandy Silhouette.  But my daughter and I decided we didn’t love the color.  SO, we went a different route.

With our brown paint, we painted over the whole plaque, over the vinyl.  Once it dried, we carefully removed the vinyl letters, leaving us with a “negative” effect.  Then, as you will soon see, as usual, I attached it with sandpaper to give it a well loved look.

LOVE the blue and the brown!  Love the negative effect on the books!

Love Mr. Reed. We will miss him.

Next, we have the wonderful Ms. Johnson, who with patience and the perfect amount of pushing, had my introverted 4th grader participating and excelling in no time at all!

My gracious, you wouldn’t believe what this girl learned this year!

So, I sat my daughter down and asked her to give me words that best described her feelings of Ms. Johnson.  Then we designed this sign for her – and cut out the vinyl in school colors, gold & purple!

Since I am brand new at this blogging thing, but I want to jump right in there – I am going to share these two projects on 2 linky parties that I have watched for a long long time!

Go check out these linky parties, you will love them!

And in the meantime, Let’s Get Relative!

What IS Relative Type?

So, what is Relative Type going to be about? Well, I tell you. I thought about opening another booth when the one I have at ARTifacts closes. But then I thought that was just a bit nutty for me right now. Starting a new job, summer with kids at home, still making our new house have our "touch" on it, etc - I just don't have that kind of energy right now. But that thought made me so sad!

I have to create. I have making things. I have to find a way to share my creations with others. Plus, I have the tools to do so, and want to use them. I can't just stop! So I won't. I just need to decide what avenue I want to focus on, and do just one (maybe two) product lines. Maybe do some craft fairs, maybe one day sell on Etsy. That kind of thing. But what I really want to do is make something for YOU! I want to do special orders, make one of a kind personalized items!

I also want to do my step by step tutorials on here - showing works in progress and of course, DIYs.

So just to get things started, and while I finish up things here at the shop - I will share projects I have done in the past, and can do something like it again. Most of the items I make are one of a kind - so I can't do the EXACT same thing, but I can re-use phrases, use similar backgrounds, etc.

I will start on the things I can make and do later.  For now, here are a few things I have already done.

LABELS!! Do you need labels for items at your home? Kids rooms? To mark your favorite food dishes that you use when going to parties? I can make you all kinds of labels, I even have chalkboard labels.

There is no restriction or limit to what we can create! More labels below...

This was a favorite creation! Very old exterior door, wonderfully chipped and distressed by Mother Nature and Father Time – you just can’t fake that!!  Then added the “WELCOME” graphic that I made.  I put it in the shop, and sold it within days.  I LOVED it!

Another favorite – just a simple plaque.

What do these three things have in common that I will make into my future biz?  I am doing customize vinyl.  There are so many things you can do with Vinyl!  You can craft, you can tag, you can personalize, you can…, you can…. Endless possibilities!

Wish me luck on my new adventure!  Let’s get RELATIVE!

New Beginnings!

I am so excited to introduce my new business and my new blog!  As many of you know, I am closing the shop that I have worked at for the past 4+ years that my wonderful sister owns. One of the best parts of the shop for me, was a always trying to be creative with my booth that I shared with her.  Now that we are closing it is hard to imagine not having that creative outlet any longer.

So, in order to keep myself sane, I have decided to continue my business through my favorite part of what I did in my booth - my vinyl creations.

I will post my new creations and take orders for custom creations!  I have already been doing alot of that at the shop, and will continue to do that online.  Maybe one day expanding to a website or Etsy like site, but in the meantime I will just create and share on here.  I hope you like what you see, and I hope you tell me what you would like to see too!

We will begin my new journey soon!
