2011-12 has been the most amazing year for my girls. They have both excelled leaps and bounds! I just can’t tell you how proud I am of them. And especially happy that they had 2 of the most amazing teachers ever! Truly!
I can’t take any create at all for the achievements either girl has made, they take full credit – along with their amazing teachers. Mr. Reed, my youngest’s kindergarten teacher and Ms Johnson, my oldest’s 4th grade teacher.
So, how do you thank someone that has just done so much for you and your child? I don’t know that you ever truly can. And even more so, on a very small budget! So, I need to use my crafty skills to make a one-of-a-kind gift for both teachers and hope they see the love and appreciation in it
I look all over Pinterest & blog world, but wasn’t at all inspired, and was running out of time. The wonderful Mr Reed is moving on to be a Reading Specialist Teacher at our school, so excited for him – he will be amazing. So, something to decorate his new classroom.
We started with a blue sign, with green vinyl cut out with my handy dandy Silhouette. But my daughter and I decided we didn’t love the color. SO, we went a different route.
With our brown paint, we painted over the whole plaque, over the vinyl. Once it dried, we carefully removed the vinyl letters, leaving us with a “negative” effect. Then, as you will soon see, as usual, I attached it with sandpaper to give it a well loved look.
LOVE the blue and the brown! Love the negative effect on the books!
Love Mr. Reed. We will miss him.
Next, we have the wonderful Ms. Johnson, who with patience and the perfect amount of pushing, had my introverted 4th grader participating and excelling in no time at all!
My gracious, you wouldn’t believe what this girl learned this year!
So, I sat my daughter down and asked her to give me words that best described her feelings of Ms. Johnson. Then we designed this sign for her – and cut out the vinyl in school colors, gold & purple!
Since I am brand new at this blogging thing, but I want to jump right in there – I am going to share these two projects on 2 linky parties that I have watched for a long long time!
Go check out these linky parties, you will love them!
And in the meantime, Let’s Get Relative!
